Phlox ‘Goldmine’ is a striking combination of gold edged foliage and deep-magenta flowers. The golden variegation is unique to ‘Goldmine’ and its white-flowered sister ‘Silvermine’.

For 'personal garding purposes' only, you may divide the plants in order to maintain their health.

What you must not do is sell them to other people.

Plants are patented in order to generate income for the breeder whose work enables the rest of us to enjoy new varieties. They are the same as a copyright on a piece of music.

Nobody is suggesting that you shouldn't give your plants the best possible care to keep them healthy, so if your plants need to be thinned out then that's OK.

Hi,

Arie says you need to divide the old plants in the Spring to reduce mildew. I thought you couldn't divide patented plants. Can you explain please?
