Growing up close to home
16-12-2003 18:18 Echinacea 'Razzmatazz' is grown at the van Noort nursery, just a stone's throw from the place it was discovered.

Echinacea 'Razzmatazz' growing at the van Noort nursery during the summer of 2003. Your plant could be in this picture!

This family business, now run by Jan's friend Marco van Noort, is also in Warmond, Holland, just around the corner from Jan's own place. Very handy should Jan want to check up on how his variety is doing.

Marco, of course, is the vital link in the chain that saved E. 'Razzmatazz' from extinction by alerting his industry contacts to its existence.

And E. 'Razzmatazz' is in good company here. Marco van Noort is also the hybridiser behind Darwin PlantSpotters varieties Geranium 'Jolly Bee'  and Tradescantia 'Pink Chablis'. There's even a history of notable varieties here, as this is the place where Marco's father bred the excellent Liatris ‘Kobold’ back in 1952.
