He comes from a family with a tradition of working the land. But rather than simply continuing in exactly the same line of business, each generation has adapted that piece of land to their own tastes.

And Aad himself is no exception to that. His chosen occupation of growing and breeding perennial varieties follows on from his father’s bulb growing business, which in turn was an adaptation from his grandfather’s use of the land as a cattle farm.

As well as growing a selection of perennial crops to order, Aad takes a keen interest in creating and selecting new varieties, with Heucheras as his speciality.
