Ligularia 'Little Lantern'
from Helmut Stade

Introduced 2003

With its clean foliage and numerous conical clusters of golden-yellow flowers, Ligularia ‘Little Lantern’ is an extremely good representative of its genus.

Of course its compact habit is also remarkable, as is its ability to perform well and flower in a pot, something that is rarely the case with its mother L. x hessei.

Hardiness: US zones 4-8
Blooms: July-August

Common name:
Golden Rod

Hi Linda,
I also planted a little lantern last year and am happy to see it coming back this year. However, I also have something eating its leaves. Did you ever find out what the pest is that was eating yours and how to stop it?
Thank you,
Karen

Hello Linda,

Our best advice is to take a part-eaten leaf to your local nursery and ask if they can identify the problem, as they will have better knowledge of local bug problems, and may be able to offer you a product to keep whatever it is at bay.

Good luck!

I'm pleased to see my Little Lantern planted last year is coming back. But some pest is eating its leaves and I fear for its health. Any suggestions for which bug prefers this plant and how to get rid of it??

There could be many factors that effect the performance of your Little Lantern. For example the type of soil it is in, and the amount of sunlight it receives. It’s also possible that the water from your air-conditioning system is too cold. Although you say the system drains where your plant is growing, is there still actually enough water going into the soil to keep it moist?

If you could provide some further information about these factors and the condition of your plant, we can try to help further.

I purchased a little latern last season, placed in a area of my garden where the water from our airconditions unit drains to keep the area moist as suggested, the plant does not do as well as hoped, any suggestions.
