Round the world voyage for 'Razzmatazz'
10-08-2004 09:35 Production of a plant as special as 'Razzmatazz' is a job which requires the skill of experts, and sometimes a LOT of travelling!
By Miriam Young

A small number of 'Razzmatazz' plants were sent from The Netherlands to New Zealand to be propagated by tissue culture at a specialist laboratory.

Young plants produced by tissue culture, growing in gel.

The young plants were then shipped, still in their gel compound, to Illinois in the USA where they were 'weaned' into soil and grown on to be ready for sale.

This took place under the watchful eyes of Carsten Hoffmeyer at Hoffie Nursery. As you can see, 'Razzmatazz' settled in well in Illinois after its epic journey. From here it has found its way into gardens across the USA.
