Heuchera ‘Swirling Fantasy’ gives a fine display of purple leaves with pewter marbling, set off with sprays of red flowers in summer.

It was the first Heucheras to combine purple foliage with red flowers.

Due to the extensive nature of Aad Wijnhout's Heuchera breeding operation, it's almost impossible to tell exactly how it came about. Aad, however, believes it to be a seedling from H. ‘Regina'.

He selected the plant from thousands of seedlings growing in his field in 2000. The variety was first offered to the public in 2002.

Until then, red flowers were only found on green leaved varieties, while those with purple leaves had either cream or pale pink flowers.
