By Miriam Young

As the company that brings Darwin PlantSpotters to the world, Darwin Plants are the hub between many plant breeders, propagators and suppliers.

The show garden at Darwin Plants, where most of the 1000+ perennial varieties the company exports are displayed.

Commercial growers from all over the world visit this garden to select varieties to offer to the retail market.

A family business that has been operating since 1865, it has seen many changes over the generations, not least the current demand for new and unusual perennial varieties.

Although the company's main task is the sale and export of perennials, a small number of varieties are actually grown at their own premises in Hillegom, just down the road from the world famous Keukenhof flowerbulb garden.
