The Feelings series of Paniculata type Phlox can be divided into two distinct groups. Those with and those without flowers.
The without-flowers group
P.Empty Feelings, P. Midnight Feelings and the soon-to-be-released P. 'Pleasant Feelings'.

Phlox 'Empty Feelings'
The original Feelings Phlox.
These plants go through the motions of producing flowers but never get any further than the narrow bracts that protect the flowers as they are forming.
As no flower forms, the plant tries again and again, eventually producing more and more bracts until a large filled plume is formed. The plumes provide form and colour for many weeks. Given mild conditions they can last for up to 3 months, though the colour will fade over this period.
While not being ornamental in their own right in a conventional sense, they provide an ideal foil for other brightly coloured flowers, as well as a huge talking point!
Phlox 'Midnight Feelings'
Same form as 'Empty Feelings' but with mahogany black colouring.
The with-flowers group.
P. 'Fancy Feelings', P.'Natural Feelings' and P. 'Red Feelings'.
These plants all produce tiny sterile flowers that are hidden within decorative 'modified' petals. The 'Petals' are somewhat difficult to define as their substance appears to be somewhere between that of a petal and a bract.
The one thing for certain though, is that they last an incredibly long time - as long as 8 weeks. This is partly due to the sturdy substance of which they are formed, and partly because sterile flowers last longer as their energy isn't converted into seed production.
Varieties in this group offer flowers in a range of distinctive forms and colours.

Phlox 'Red Feelings'
Has narrow ruby-red petals that remain tight around the flowers.
Phlox 'Natural Feelings'
Has double layers of small, curled pink petals, detailed with green and white streaks.

Phlox 'Fancy Feelings'
Narrow bright pink petals that open to form a star shape. |
