Living walls keep the green flag flying high
10-05-2007 20:07 Itsaul Nurseries continue in the push for a greener environment by offering living walls.
By Miriam Young

Itsaul Nurseries have always been advocates of using plants in architecture for both the asthetic and environmental benefits they bring.

For many years now they have been proactive in helping the construction of green roofs, working together with architects and contractors not only to supply suitable plants but also to create and manufacture lightweight soils necessary for such projects. See the article on this page "Just who is Mr Natural" for more details and pictures.

An example of a living wall on a grand scale. But they don't have to be this big, this is something you can try at home too!

The Saul brothers are happy to report that business in this area is booming, especially with the latest area they've got involved in, living walls.

Remaining true to their ideology of keeping the planet green, Itsaul Nurseries have become distributors to landscape contractors in south east USA for all the materials and plants needed to construct living walls.

Although the introduction of the Big Sky series of Echinaceas has shot Richard Saul's work into the spotlight, what most people don't realise is that he's been responsible for many other introductions of perennials and other trypes of garden plants over the years.
