Carol, I am very sorry to hear about your bad experience with this plant. It performs extremely well here at PlantSpotters headquarters.
However you are not the first person to contact us with a problem with a pest eating your L. Little Lantern. I presume you have now disposed of the plants, which is unfortunate because your best bet would have been to take a sample of a partially eaten leaf to your local nursery who would be likely to have knowledge about particular pests in your area with a partiality to Ligularia. They may have even encountered it at their own premises.

| I have just pulled three of these plants out of my garden. The leaves were devoured by some insect in spite of rigerous spraying, and the flowers were short stumps of yellow flowers that browned and died within three days. They were well watered by a sprinkler system and grew in semi shade. The end product was not worth the effort put into this plant.
